You were much loved, Auntie Irene. Mum has been telling the story about her hanging onto your plaits to stay safe from scary school all my life. The two of you together always made me wish for a sister. To me you were the super glam auntie, the easy one to talk to. Mums best friend. I spent so many hours in your home, as a kid then later as a stroppy teen nicking your ciggies! You’ve fought like a lion this last few years and made your family so proud.
